Job summary

Salt in Melbourne is seeking a Performance Tester to design, develop and run performance and load tests across applications, APIs, data and infrastructure. The role focuses on understanding system behavior under load, identifying bottlenecks, and improving scalability to support high volumes.

You will collaborate with engineering, delivery and operations teams, contribute to capacity planning, and help embed performance testing into CI/CD pipelines using Gatling and AWS-based tooling.

Qualifications

• Strong commercial experience in Performance Engineering / Performance Testing.
• Hands-on experience with Gatling.
• Strong experience working with AWS / public cloud.
• Experience developing quality code and working with software development practices.
• CI/CD experience, ideally with Jenkins and/or GitHub.
• Good understanding of Unix/Linux environments.
• Ability to deep-dive into technical issues and drive resolution.
• 4+ years' experience in performance engineering.

Responsibilities

• Design and execute performance and load testing strategies.
• Develop and maintain performance test scripts and tooling.
• Analyse system behaviour across applications, APIs, data and infrastructure.
• Identify performance issues, bottlenecks and scalability risks.
• Work closely with engineering, delivery and operational teams.
• Contribute to capacity planning and usage modelling.
• Support the development of highly scalable, resilient and recoverable systems.
• Help develop performance engineering capability across the wider technology organisation.
• Integrate performance testing into CI/CD pipelines.
