Job summary

Ambition Recruitment is partnering with a client in Sydney to recruit a senior payroll professional. The role focuses on end-to-end fortnightly payroll, compliance and process improvements while providing leadership support and hands-on expertise.

The successful candidate will interpret complex Awards/Enterprise Agreements, manage payroll tax and maintain strict compliance, with SAP experience preferred. A two-day hybrid work arrangement is available and the position offers growth into

Qualifications

• 8+ years of end-to-end payroll experience in a complex environment.
• Strong ability to interpret Awards and Enterprise Agreements.
• Solid knowledge of payroll legislation and compliance requirements.
• Excel skills including Pivot Tables and VLOOKUPs.
• SAP experience preferred but not essential.

Responsibilities

• End-to-end fortnightly payroll processing.
• Payroll reporting, reconciliations and month-end activities.
• Bank file creation, validation and payroll controls.
• Payroll tax administration and compliance management.
• Interpret and apply multiple Awards and Enterprise Agreements.
• Act as escalation point for complex payroll queries.
• Troubleshoot payroll system and processing issues.
• Support compliance obligations (STP, PAYG, Superannuation, Workers Compensation).
• Train, mentor and support junior payroll team members.
• Assist with process improvements and automation initiatives.
• Collaborate with Payroll leadership and internal stakeholders.

THE ROLE

End-to-end fortnightly payroll processing

• Payroll reporting, reconciliations and month-end activities

THE PERSON

8+ years end-to-end payroll experience within a complex environment

• Strong experience interpreting Awards and Enterprise Agreements
• Strong knowledge of payroll legislation and compliance requirements
• Excel skills including Pivot Tables and VLOOKUPs
• SAP experience preferred not essential
• Ability to work autonomously and provide technical leadership
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
• Comfortable working within a changing and evolving environment
• Full working rights as this is a permanent position
