Job summary

Chandler Macleod Group in Broadmeadows, VIC is seeking an experienced Senior Payroll Officer to lead a busy payroll team and manage end-to-end payroll across fortnightly cycles. This on-site role requires strong leadership, accuracy and a customer‑focussed approach to ensure timely, compliant payroll delivery.

You will allocate work, mentor Officers and support complex payroll matters while maintaining exceptional service levels in a high-volume environment.

Qualifications

• Senior payroll experience in a high-volume environment.
• End-to-end payroll processing knowledge.
• Experience leading or allocating work within a payroll team.
• Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
• Strong customer service and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Attention to detail and problem-solving capabilities.
• Understanding of payroll legislation, awards, enterprise agreements and compliance.
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills.

Responsibilities

• Allocate and coordinate work across the Payroll team to ensure priorities and deadlines are met.
• Provide guidance, support and training to Payroll Officers.
• Assist with complex payroll processes and contribute to process improvement initiatives.
• Process fortnightly payroll activities, including timesheet validation, data entry and payroll reconciliation.
• Ensure payroll data is accurate, balanced and compliant with relevant legislation and enterprise agreements.
• Maintain employee records, payroll documentation and electronic personnel files.
• Process onboarding, employee maintenance and termination transactions.
• Manage superannuation administration, including choice of fund requirements.
• Respond to payroll-related enquiries and provide high-quality customer service.
• Work closely with People & Culture and Finance teams to ensure payroll activities are completed accurately and on time.
