Job summary

Hitachi Rail is seeking a Principal OT Cybersecurity Infrastructure Engineer to lead end‑to‑end OT security architectures for railway and critical infrastructure projects based in Sydney, Australia.

The role covers hands‑on engineering and design ownership, ensuring platforms meet project requirements, regulatory obligations, and international standards. You will drive security testing, commissioning, and ongoing assurance across OT subsystems.

Qualifications

• Engineering degree enabling full membership to Engineers Australia.
• Bachelor’s degree in cybersecurity, computer science, IT, telecommunications, automation, systems engineering, or equivalent.
• At least five years of professional IT/OT cybersecurity infrastructure experience.
• Experience with IEC 62443, zones and conduits, defence in depth, security levels, and related requirements.

Responsibilities

• Define end‑to‑end OT cybersecurity architectures and act as technical authority.
• Design, configure, integrate, and validate security for network, identity, access management, threat detection, and SOC enablement.
• Translate IEC 62443, CLC/TS 50701, NIST and ISO requirements into practical controls.
• Lead FAT/SAT testing, hardening, and commissioning of security solutions.
• Coordinate with OT, network, systems, SOC, vendors and systems integrators; manage dependencies and reporting.
• Align designs with Australian critical‑infrastructure, data protection, and logging obligations while mentoring engineers.
