Job summary

Hitachi Rail STS Australia Pty Ltd is seeking a Principal OT Cybersecurity Infrastructure Engineer based in Sydney. You will own security architecture across complex OT environments, lead end-to-end security design, and ensure compliance with Australian regulations and international standards.

The role requires hands-on engineering, project collaboration, and lifecycle delivery from concept to handover. The ideal candidate has 5+ years in IT/OT security, experience in critical infrastructure,

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree enabling full membership to Engineers Australia.
• Master’s degree in cybersecurity or systems engineering desirable.
• At least five years of IT/OT cybersecurity infrastructure experience.
• Experience in railway or critical infrastructure environments.
• Hands-on design, configuration, integration, testing, and commissioning of cybersecurity platforms.

Responsibilities

• Define end-to-end OT cybersecurity architectures and security controls.
• Lead design, configuration, integration and validation of network and perimeter security.
• Translate IEC 62443, NIST, ISO requirements into practical controls.
• Coordinate security testing, commissioning, and handover.
• Mentor engineers and liaise with project assurance stakeholders.
