Job summary

Gridsight is seeking a Senior/Staff Data Scientist (Optimisation) to design, implement and run optimisation engines powering modern dynamic electricity grids. You will tackle constrained problems in grid operations, dispatch, and renewables assessments, delivering near real-time performance and robust validation.

You will apply optimisation theory, linear programming and advanced data science methods, collaborating with the grid modeling team to create scalable, dependable solutions.

Qualifications

• Strong understanding of optima existence, ill-posedness, and global vs local minima.
• Experience with constrained optimisation, linear programming and solvers.
• Background in statistical modeling and numerical programming.

Responsibilities

• Solve constrained optimisation problems for grid operations and resource dispatch.
• Design optimisation solutions balancing safety, efficiency and constraints.
• Collaborate to formulate network models as optimisation problems.
• Build scalable real-time or near-real-time optimisation systems.
• Establish best practices for model development, validation and monitoring.
• Contribute to technical strategy for data science and optimisation capabilities.
