Job summary

Gridsight is hiring a Senior/Staff Data Scientist (Optimisation) to design and run optimisation engines powering modern dynamic electricity grids. You will tackle constrained problems, forecast states, and evaluate new renewables applications, collaborating with the grid modelling team to convert requirements into scalable solutions.

We seek 5+ years in linear optimisation or related roles, strong Python skills, experience with OR-Tools or commercial solvers, and a track record of delivering

Qualifications

• Optimisation fundamentals: strong understanding of optima, ill-posedness, local vs global optimisation.
• Linear optimisation: constrained optimisation, LP, convex/non-convex methods, solvers like CBC, Gurobi, CPLEX.

Responsibilities

• Solve constrained optimisation problems related to grid operations and resource dispatch.
• Design optimisation solutions balancing safety, efficiency, and constraints.
• Collaborate with grid modelling team to formulate models as optimisation problems.
• Build scalable optimisation solutions for real-time or near-real-time contexts.
• Establish best practices for model development, validation, and monitoring.
• Contribute to technical strategy for data science and optimisation capabilities.
