Job summary

Classic Recruitment is seeking an experienced Operations Manager for a growing family-run transport and logistics business in Toowoomba. You will lead its diverse operation across bulk haulage, heavy haulage, container logistics and general freight, reporting directly to the Managing Director.

Bring together people, equipment and customer requirements to run operations safely, efficiently and profitably. A senior, hands-on leader with a commercial focus will thrive here.

Qualifications

• Significant leadership experience in transport, logistics, heavy haulage or mining services.
• Strong track record in fleet performance, utilisation and operational efficiency.
• Commercial confidence, with the ability to manage budgets, control costs and improve profitability.
• Experience leading diverse teams and managing complex operational demands.
• Ability to build lasting client relationships and identify opportunities for growth.
• Sound knowledge of heavy vehicle compliance, WHS, Chain of Responsibility and fatigue management.

Responsibilities

• Overseeing daily operations, scheduling and fleet movements.
• Maximising fleet utilisation and minimising downtime.
• Monitoring revenue, costs, productivity and profitability.
• Managing key client relationships and identifying growth opportunities.
• Leading supervisors, drivers, allocators and support teams.
• Coordinating workforce planning, maintenance and project mobilisation.
• Driving safety and heavy vehicle compliance.
• Improving operational systems, processes and performance.
• Supporting tenders, pricing and new business opportunities.
