Job summary

Blackbook Executive in Melbourne is seeking an experienced operations leader to act as 2IC to the Managing Director, providing hands-on support across the business and stepping in during their absence. You will lead a small team, oversee day-to-day operations and customer service, manage key accounts, and attend client meetings alongside the MD to provide freight forwarding expertise.

Qualifications

• Strong experience within freight forwarding, with a solid understanding of the industry and its operations.
• Experience across customer service, operations and/or key account management.
• Experience managing or mentoring operational teams.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.

The Company

Our client is a well-established, Australian-owned freight forwarding business with a strong reputation and a long history within the industry. As the business continues to grow, you'll be reporting directly to the Managing Director, and play a key role in supporting the day-to-day running of the business while providing leadership and guidance across the team.

The Role

About You

• Strong experience within freight forwarding, with a solid understanding of the industry and its operations
• Previous experience across customer service, operations and/or key account management
• Experience managing or mentoring operational teams
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills
• The confidence to attend client meetings and contribute to conversations around operational requirements and solutions
• A commercially minded approach, with an understanding of customers and the broader business
• The ability to think strategically while still being comfortable getting involved in the day-to-day
• A proactive, hands-on approach and the ability to work closely with senior leadership
• The maturity and confidence to step up and take ownership when required
