Job summary

Horizons West, part of the Kelsian Group, is seeking a Senior Operations Coordinator to support planning and delivery of school bus, route service and charter operations. Reporting to the Logistics Manager, this role acts as the operational 2IC, providing leadership to the Operations Coordination team while ensuring services are delivered safely, efficiently, and in line with compliance requirements.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience in transport, logistics, scheduling, or operational coordination environments.
• Previous leadership or supervisory experience with the ability to coach and support team members.
• Strong understanding of fatigue management, safety, and transport compliance requirements.
• Proficiency using scheduling software, fleet management, and GPS tracking systems.
• Excellent planning, problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
• Medium Rigid (MR) Driver's Licence and WorkSafe Fatigue Management Training (or the ability to obtain).

Responsibilities

• Lead and support the Operations Coordination team, providing daily direction, mentoring, and escalation support.
• Oversee the scheduling and deployment of drivers and vehicles across school bus, route, and charter services.
• Monitor daily operations and proactively manage service disruptions to maintain reliable service delivery.
• Coordinate with Workshop and operational teams to maximise fleet availability and efficiency.
• Ensure compliance with fatigue management, safety requirements, contractual obligations, and transport regulations.
• Support incident management, after-hours operational coverage, and continuous improvement initiatives.
