Job summary

Glencore is seeking a Principal Mining Engineer for the Black Star Open Cut Project, based in Brisbane with a transition to Mount Isa on a FIFO roster. You will provide advanced technical leadership across the full project lifecycle, shaping designs, schedules and execution plans to deliver value.

You will lead multidisciplinary teams, ensure safe and practical mine design, and drive optimisation from feasibility through to mining operations.

Qualifications

• Open cut mining planning and mine design experience.
• Experience delivering projects from feasibility studies to operations.
• Strong governance, risk management and project economics knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership for open cut mining across all lifecycle stages.
• Develop safe, practical mine designs, production schedules and waste movement plans.
• Lead feasibility studies, cost estimates and financial models integration.
• Integrate geology, geotechnical, metallurgical, environmental inputs into planning.
• Identify and manage mining risks and opportunities with governance processes.
• Review plans, forecasts and productivity initiatives to improve value.
• Mentor engineers, planners and other technical staff.
• Maintain and improve mining standards, procedures and reporting frameworks.
