Job summary

Coles Group in Melbourne is seeking a hands-on Senior Systems Engineer to design, implement and operate enterprise monitoring and observability capabilities across our technology platform. You will connect telemetry with business processes, create end-to-end service views, and lead the adoption of OpenTelemetry and Splunk Observability Cloud to improve incident detection and performance.

Qualifications

Senior-level experience in systems, platform, DevOps, SRE or observability engineering.
Hands-on experience with OpenTelemetry and distributed tracing.
Experience designing dashboards linking technology performance with business outcomes.
Strong Azure engineering experience with Terraform and CI/CD tools.
Scripting in Python, PowerShell, Bash; comfortable with Linux and Windows CLIs.
Strong troubleshooting and communication skills across stakeholders.

Responsibilities

Design and implement scalable monitoring and observability solutions.
Develop end-to-end service views linking business processes and KPI
Implement Real User Monitoring to analyze end-user experience.
Lead adoption of OpenTelemetry and instrumentation patterns.
Configure Splunk Observability Cloud, dashboards, detectors and alerts.
Automate observability infrastructure with Terraform and CI/CD pipelines.
Create technical standards and onboarding patterns; provide technical leadership.
