Zusammenfassung

Westpac is seeking a senior engineering lead to migrate from AppDynamics to Elastic Observability using OpenTelemetry. You will build instrumentation standards, automate pipelines, and champion SRE practices for reliable, scalable observability across the enterprise.

You will mentor teams, produce runbooks, and deliver self-service assets to accelerate adoption while decommissioning legacy tooling. Strong communication across a large organisation is essential.

Qualifikationen

• 5–10 years of deep experience with AppDynamics APM and migration planning.
• Expert OpenTelemetry instrumentation and collector engineering.
• Advanced Elastic Observability (APM, traces, logs, metrics, service maps).
• Proficient Kibana dashboard development and data visualisation.
• Strong SQL with Elasticsearch queries (ESQL) for logs, metrics, events and security data.

Aufgaben

• Lead end-to-end migration from AppDynamics to Elastic using OTEL.
• Define OTEL-first instrumentation standards and scalable telemetry pipelines.
• Drive adoption of SRE practices with SLI/SLO-based monitoring and alerting.
• Automate deployment, configuration and validation of OTEL collectors, Elastic assets and CI/CD checks.
• Enable safe decommissioning of legacy AppDynamics tooling and licences.
• Improve platform reliability and self-service observability through reusable patterns.
• Provide technical leadership and mentoring to engineering and SRE teams, create runbooks and assets.
