Job description

Megaport is the global leader in Network as a Service (NaaS), and has transformed the way businesses connect to the cloud, data centers, and each other. We're publicly listed on the Australian Stock Exchange and partnered with the biggest names in tech like Amazon, Microsoft, Google, Oracle, IBM, and more. Headquartered in Brisbane with a crew of over 600 people spread across Asia-Pacific, Europe, and the Americas, our employees enjoy an environment that is collaborative, supportive, and fun. We're a team of problem solvers, pixel pushers, code slingers, and cloud fanatics. Collaboration beats hierarchy, curiosity fuels our growth, and everyone's voice matters. We take our work seriously, but not ourselves. We work across time zones to execute on our global vision, trust each other to get things done, and never compromise our values for commercial gain. Most importantly, we place our customers at the center of everything we do.

About the role

The Network Team at Latitude.sh, now part of Megaport, is a critical pillar in ensuring stable, secure, and high-performance connectivity for customers. We operate a robust, complex, and constantly evolving global network infrastructure that supports bare-metal and cloud-adjacent workloads. Our environment includes carrier-grade routing, switching, security, and monitoring systems, working closely with multiple transit providers and data centers worldwide. The team is hands-on, deeply technical, and driven by ownership, reliability, and continuous improvement. We are looking for a Senior NOC Engineer to join our Network Team, capable of handling operational excellence, incident response, and proactive improvements in a production-critical environment.

Key responsibilities

Operate, maintain, and continuously improve the logical data and security network, including edge routers, core switches, and firewalls

Actively troubleshoot and resolve medium and high complexity network incidents, including interaction with transit providers, IXs, and data center partners when required

Own end-to-end network support for customers and internal teams, from first response through to resolution, ensuring timely responses, clear communication and SLA adherence

Perform root cause analysis (RCA) and implement preventive actions to avoid recurrence of incidents

Manage BGP sessions with customers and peers, including customer-owned IP space (BYOIP), customer peerings, transit, IX and private interconnects

Respond to DDoS events and support mitigation, including scrubbing and BGP FlowSpec-based controls

Plan, review and execute network changes within maintenance windows, including rack and server migrations, topology changes, capacity upgrades and peer review of configuration changes before they are applied

Keep our source of truth accurate: network documentation, IPAM/DCIM records, procedures and incident records

Manage and improve network monitoring and observability, including alerts, thresholds, dashboards, logs and traffic analytics

Act with a strong sense of ownership and urgency, especially during off-hours and critical incidents

About you

Bachelor's degree in Technology, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience)

In-depth, hands-on knowledge of networking protocols, with experience troubleshooting them in production: Layer 2 (VLANs, trunking, LACP/port-channels, Spanning Tree, MAC and ARP tables), Data centre overlays (VXLAN), IP (subnetting, ACLs, DHCP, first-hop redundancy), Routing (BGP in depth and OSPF, including BFD), Transport and management (TCP, UDP, SNMP, NTP, SSH, syslog), Troubleshooting (interpreting traceroute/MTR, packet capture, looking glasses and public BGP tools)

Proven ability to troubleshoot production environments with a hands-on and analytical approach

Strong prioritization skills and ability to operate calmly under pressure

Clear communication skills, with the ability to explain technical topics to different audiences

Proactive mindset and willingness to continuously learn and improve

CCNA, JNCIA or equivalent certification. CCNP, JNCIS or higher is highly regarded

Experience with Cisco NX-OS, Juniper Junos, and Fortinet FortiGate, or other multi-vendor environments

Previous experience in ISP, data center, or large-scale infrastructure environments

Familiarity with network monitoring tools (Grafana, Kentik, NexusGuard, etc)
