Job summary

Hamilton Barnes is seeking a Senior Network Security Engineer to support a major government network security migration project in Canberra. The role combines hands-on design, implementation and client engagement, with opportunities to help grow the network security practice as the team expands.

The ideal candidate will bring strong networking and security fundamentals, hands-on implementation skills, and the ability to translate requirements into practical solutions while mentoring other

Qualifications

• Strong experience in network engineering, security or architecture for enterprise/government environments.
• Solid understanding of routing, switching, TCP/IP and traffic flows.
• Experience with gateways, secure web gateways, proxies or related security infra.
• Exposure to migrations or large-scale security implementations.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement network security solutions for government environments.
• Support gateway migration activities from discovery to deployment.
• Work across network architecture, routing, switching and security infrastructure.
• Troubleshoot complex networking issues and ensure secure connectivity.
• Collaborate with clients and internal teams on technical solutions.
• Participate in workshops and design discussions.
• Contribute to building out the network security practice and mentor engineers.
