Job summary

The Australian Government's Department of Industry, Science and Resources is seeking a Senior Network Engineer (Executive Level 1) to lead complex network services and security across the CIO Division. You will mentor staff, manage BAU and project workloads, and guide technology direction in a fast‑paced, multi‑vendor environment.

This role requires strong communication, problem solving and independent work, with flexibility for after‑hours rosters and interstate travel.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Senior Network Engineer delivering high‑performing infrastructure.
• Experience with multi‑vendor networks and security, reliability and governance.
• Ability to operate with broad direction and independently manage priorities.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, operate and maintain complex network environments across on‑premises and cloud.
• Coach and develop team members; contribute to BAU and project delivery.
• Provide input on technology direction and new tools or systems.
• Create detailed designs, diagrams and operating procedures.
• Ensure system availability and uptime; drive continuous improvement.
• Participate in disaster recovery planning and on‑call support.
