Job summary

Reserve Bank of Australia is seeking a Senior Network Engineer with strong Cisco networking and firewall experience. The role focuses on provisioning, security hardening, and performance tuning of complex network infrastructure.

You will contribute to SD-WAN, ACI, and cloud initiatives while supporting cyber security and incident response. The role involves design work, automation scripting, documentation, and occasional on-call duties, with hybrid work arrangements and opportunities to advance

Qualifications

• Degree in IT preferred with industry accreditations in Cisco and ITIL.
• Strong knowledge of Cisco networking infrastructure (LAN/WAN).
• Experience with Cisco and/or Palo Alto firewalls and management tools (CSM, FMC).
• Experience managing F5 BIG-IP (LTM/GTM) environments and load balancing.
• Proficiency with Python scripting to automate tasks; familiarity with Terraform (IAC) and Cisco ACI.
• Understanding of IT infrastructure practices and ITSM; willingness to learn Cisco SD-WAN.
• Knowledge of network management tools (Cisco DNA Centre, Statseeker, Infoblox) and Azure Cloud.
• Desirable: experience with SD-WAN technologies and cyber security collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Provision, maintain, and secure network/data infrastructure; capacity planning and performance testing.
• Handle 2nd line IT incidents and security responses for network infrastructure.
• Produce designs, automation scripts, documentation, and reports for infrastructure solutions.
• Improve, harden, test, implement, monitor, and tune networking software/hardware.
• Analyze network traffic data and recommend security and performance improvements.
• Perform acceptance tests and commission communications systems; occasional on-site work.
• Support on-call roster and after-hours/weekend work when required.
• Collaborate with cyber security team to strengthen protections and remediate vulnerabilities.
