Job summary

Altitude is seeking an experienced Senior Network Engineer (F5 Specialist) to support a major Australian Government agency. You will own an enterprise F5-based application delivery environment, enabling secure, resilient services for millions of Australians and leading platform upgrades and cyber security uplift.

The role sits within the Data Centre Network team and involves collaboration with vendors and internal teams, with knowledge transfer through coaching and documentation.

Qualifications

• Ability to obtain NV1 security clearance.
• Expert level experience administering F5 platforms in large enterprises (LTM/DNS-GTM/APM).
• Strong understanding of F5 traffic management, SSL offloading and load balancing.
• Experience managing certificates, SSL/TLS configurations, iRules, HA clusters and disaster recovery.
• Advanced knowledge of UNIX/Linux, CLI, packet capture and log investigation.
• Strong knowledge of TCP/IP networking, routing, switching, VLANs, firewalls and data centre networking.

Responsibilities

• Lead admin, engineering and support of enterprise F5 platforms (LTM, DNS/GTM, APM).
• Design and maintain F5 configurations including virtual servers, pools, monitors, SSL profiles and iRules.
• Investigate performance issues via packet analysis and log investigation.
• Lead upgrades, vulnerability remediation and cyber security uplift.
• Collaborate with vendors and teams, and transfer knowledge through documentation and coaching.

Altitude is seeking an experienced Senior Network Engineer (F5 Specialist) to work with a major Australian Government agency.

In this role, your F5 expertise will help keep critical services secure, resilient and available to millions of Australians every day. Sitting within the Data Centre Network team, you will take technical ownership of an enterprise application delivery environment, leading platform upgrades, performance optimisation and cyber security uplift while sharing your knowledge with the wider team.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the administration, engineering and operational support of enterprise F5 platforms, including LTM, DNS/GTM and APM services
• Design, implement and maintain F5 configurations including virtual servers, pools, monitors, SSL/TLS profiles, traffic policies, iRules, certificates and security controls
• Investigate and resolve complex platform, application and network performance issues through packet analysis, root cause investigation and system log analysis
• Lead software upgrades, vulnerability remediation, hardware lifecycle management and cyber security uplift activities
• Collaborate with vendors and internal technical teams, and transfer knowledge to staff through documentation, coaching and operational handovers.

Key Requirements

• Must be able to obtain a Negative Vetting Level 1 (NV1) security clearance
• Expert level experience administering and troubleshooting F5 platforms in large, complex enterprise environments, with extensive hands on experience across LTM, DNS/GTM and APM technologies
• Strong understanding of F5 traffic management architecture, SSL offloading, load balancing methodologies, authentication services and application delivery optimisation
• Experience managing certificates, SSL/TLS configurations, iRules, high availability clusters and disaster recovery solutions
• Advanced knowledge of UNIX/Linux operating systems, command line diagnostics, packet capture analysis and log investigation
• Strong knowledge of TCP/IP networking, routing, switching, VLANs, firewalls, segmentation and data centre networking.
