Job summary

NSW Health Pathology at Port Macquarie Base Hospital is seeking an experienced Senior Medical Laboratory Scientist, In Charge of Section, for a permanent full-time appointment. You will lead scientific, technical and support staff and oversee testing activities in a busy pathology laboratory.

This role focuses on quality, regulatory compliance, budgeting and business management while supporting development of the team and maintaining high-quality diagnostic services in the Mid North Coast region.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in Science/MLS or equivalent qualification.
• Strong communication and report writing; ability to liaise with customers, patients and staff.
• Understanding of accreditation frameworks and quality systems.
• Managerial experience in lab operations, admin and budgeting.
• Advanced knowledge of Pathology Laboratory Information Systems.
• Knowledge of operation/maintenance of analytical equipment in pathology labs.
• Understanding of WHS and privacy regulations.

• Oversee quality, cost and operational integrity of the department.
• Ensure regulatory compliance and accreditation of laboratory services.
