Job summary

Douglass Hanly Moir Pathology in Newcastle NSW seeks an experienced Laboratory Manager to lead the Gateshead/Maitland laboratories. Reporting to the Regional Manager, you will oversee daily operations and ensure high-quality patient care in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

You will work across haematology, transfusion, coagulation, biochemistry and microbiology, manage staff schedules, mentor team members and collaborate with pathologists to ensure policy compliance and strong stakeholder

Qualifications

• Medical science degree or recognised AIMS equivalent.
• Minimum five years’ experience as a senior scientist in healthcare pathology.
• Strong knowledge of Haematology, Coagulation, Biochemistry and Microbiology.
• Understanding of WHS, quality systems and ANZSBT, NPAAC and NATA requirements.
• Proficient in MS Office and Laboratory Information System (LIS).

Responsibilities

• Overseeing daily laboratory operations and delivering patient care in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
• Operating in a multi-disciplined capacity across haematology, transfusion, coagulation, biochemistry and microbiology.
• Taking charge of staff rosters and mentoring staff to ensure high performance.
• Collaborating with pathologists and managers to ensure policy compliance.
• Networking with clients to promote the company and strengthen stakeholder relationships.
