Job summary

KE Select is partnering with a private pathology organisation in NSW to appoint a Laboratory Manager to oversee operations across Gateshead and Maitland. The role suits an experienced Senior Medical Scientist transitioning to operational leadership, ensuring accurate diagnostic services and high-quality performance.

You will lead a multidisciplinary laboratory team, manage rostering, support clinical objectives and build strong stakeholder relationships to deliver patient‑centred care.

Qualifications

• Degree in Medical Laboratory Science, Medical Science or an equivalent AIMS‑level credential.
• Minimum 5 years as a Senior Medical Scientist in a clinical pathology setting, ideally hospital-based.
• Strong technical knowledge across Haematology, Coagulation, Biochemistry, Blood Bank and Microbiology.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day‑to‑day lab operations with focus on efficiency and service quality.
• Provide technical expertise across haematology, coagulation, biochemistry, transfusion and microbiology.
• Lead, mentor and develop laboratory staff and coordinate rostering/workloads.
• Ensure compliance with quality management systems and safety standards.
• Collaborate with pathologists and management to meet clinical objectives.
• Build strong relationships with internal/external stakeholders to maintain service excellence.
