Job summary

Peabody Energy seeks a Senior Mining Engineer for the Wambo Tailings Rehabilitation Project in NSW, Australia. The role focuses on technical planning, design, sequencing and coordinating with geotechnical consultants, with broad support for Peabody’s mining operations.

You will guide mine design, sequencing, and interface with the open cut operator, while engaging stakeholders to meet environmental and operational objectives. A disciplined, safety-focused approach is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering or related discipline.
• Extensive experience in open-cut and underground mining operations.
• Proven experience in mine design, rehabilitation planning, and mine infrastructure.
• Strong proficiency in mine planning software (Deswik, Vulcan, AutoCAD, Spry).
• Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.
• Current Australian Driver’s License.

Responsibilities

• Lead mining engineering and technical support for the Wambo Tailings Rehabilitation Projects.
• Develop and manage designs and operational sequencing plans.
• Liaise with the open cut mine operator to coordinate mine waste material supply and logistics.
• Provide engineering and technical support into mining and infrastructure designs at other Peabody Operations in Australia.
• Collaborate with site teams and project stakeholders to ensure alignment with operational and environmental objectives.
• Support approvals processes through technical documentation and design validation.
• Contribute to project planning, budgeting, and reporting.
• Assist with special projects within the Technical Services Group including Business Development, Continuous Improvement, Software Evaluation.
• Ensure compliance with Peabody’s safety, environmental, and regulatory standards.
• Travel to other Peabody sites as required.
