Job summary

Whitehaven Coal is seeking an experienced Construction Projects Lead to join the Project Team at Blackwater Mine in Queensland. This senior leadership role delivers safe, efficient construction projects from concept through handover, guiding project managers and contractors to achieve time, budget and quality targets.

You will oversee planning, procurement, construction execution and governance, ensuring strong contractor performance and robust safety outcomes across multiple concurrent projects

Qualifications

• Extensive mining industry experience with leadership of construction projects.
• Experience managing project teams, contractors and key stakeholders.
• Strong knowledge of construction management methodologies and project delivery frameworks.
• Proven ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities.
• Excellent communication, negotiation and stakeholder management.
• Strong focus on safety leadership and operational excellence.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of Project Supervisors and oversee site construction delivery.
• Provide strategic direction and governance across multiple concurrent projects.
• Manage planning, procurement, construction execution and risk management.
• Ensure compliance with legislative, environmental and site requirements.
• Drive contractor performance and safety outcomes.
• Foster relationships with operational, technical and corporate stakeholders.
• Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities in project delivery.
• Support development and execution of the site’s capital works program.
