Job summary

Alcoa Australia is seeking a Senior Mine Engineer to lead short-term planning at Huntly Mine, WA. You will develop robust rolling 2-week plans and 24-hour forecasts, validating inputs and coordinating with operations to maximise resource value.

The role requires a Mining Engineering degree with proven open-cut mining and scheduling software experience, strong analytical and communication skills, and a commitment to safe, compliant practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering or related discipline.
• Proven experience in large-scale open-cut mining.
• Strong experience with mine scheduling software.
• Analytical, problem-solving and lateral-thinking capability.
• Ability to clearly communicate technical information and influence stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development and delivery of robust rolling 2-week mine plans and 24hr mine plans/forecasts.
• Validate planning inputs, including block models, productivity assumptions and data.
• Support achievement of 12 month planning by reviewing fleet, productivity and mining assumptions.
• Connect ultra short-term, short-term planning and operations to ensure practical mine outcomes.
• Identify opportunities to strengthen planning processes and continuous improvement.
• Promote safe working practices and ensure plan compliance with safety systems.
