Requirements include AQF Cert IV with 12 months experience, Cert III with 2+ years, or 3+ years relevant experience. Duties include reading blueprints, cutting, shaping, welding, and finishing metal parts.

Qualifications

• Study blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine job requirements.
• Able to work independently or in a team.
• Proficient in welding, bolting, and riveting with weld inspection.

Responsibilities

• Study blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine job requirements.
• Select, clean, and prepare metal stock.
• Cut marked-out metal sections and shapes using hand tools, flame cutting torches and metal cutting machines.
• Shape and bend metal sections and pipes using hand and machine tools, and by heating and hammering.
• Align parts to be joined using hand tools.
• Join metal sections using various welding techniques, bolting, and riveting.
• Examine welds for width of bead, penetration, and precision.
• Finish products by cleaning in acidic solutions.
• Clean and smooth welds by filing, chiseling, and grinding.
• Able to work efficiently on your own or within a team environment
