Job summary

Monash Health is seeking a Medical Scientist Grade 2/3 (Bioinformatician) to join the Diagnostic Genomics Laboratory at Clayton on a full-time basis. The role focuses on pipeline development for targeted and exomic sequencing, bioinformatics analyses of genomic data, and variant curation under senior supervision.

The role supports accreditation processes and work within a multidisciplinary team to inform genetic counselling and patient care.

Qualifications

• Degree in Science or Applied Science (MLS) in Computational Biology/Bioinformatics.
• Post graduate qualification (Masters/PhD) highly desirable.
• Experience with Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) data.
• Excellent written and verbal communication and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Support Diagnostics Genomics Laboratory with bioinformatics analyses.
• Design, implement and document pipelines to enable NATA accreditation.
• Perform variant curation and analysis for germline and somatic data.
• Analyse diverse genomic datasets and present results.
