Job summary

Quickway is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead mechanical engineering activities across water and wastewater infrastructure projects in Sydney and regional NSW. You will work with project managers, design consultants, suppliers and subcontractors to deliver complex infrastructure from tender through to commissioning.

The role requires 8–10 years' experience in water infrastructure, a Mechanical Engineering degree, and strong leadership in D&C/EPC environments.

Qualifications

• Degree qualification in Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum 8–10 years' experience delivering water, wastewater or infrastructure projects.
• Experience with water and wastewater pumping stations, treatment plants and large-diameter pipelines.
• Experience working in D&C, EPC or construction delivery environments.
• Excellent stakeholder and client management skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate mechanical engineering activities across multiple projects.
• Manage mechanical scope during design, procurement, construction and commissioning.

Working as a Senior Mechanical Engineer at Quickway is Exciting

Quickway has been delivering major infrastructure projects across Australia for more than 19 years. We specialise in Roads & Bridges, Concrete Structures, Tunnels, Rail, Communications, Electrical, Water and Traffic Management.

Due to continued growth within our Water Infrastructure division, we are seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our Sydney team. This role offers the opportunity to work within a self-performing Design & Construct environment, delivering critical water, wastewater and treatment infrastructure projects for major utility clients across New South Wales.

You will play a key role throughout the entire project lifecycle, providing technical leadership from tender and design development through procurement, construction, testing and commissioning.

About the Role

As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will be responsible for leading and coordinating mechanical engineering activities across multiple water infrastructure projects. Working alongside Project Managers, Site Teams, Design Consultants, Suppliers and Subcontractors, you will help deliver complex and challenging infrastructure works throughout Sydney and regional New South Wales.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate mechanical engineering activities across multiple projects.
• Manage mechanical scope delivery during design, procurement, construction and commissioning phases.
• Review and coordinate mechanical designs to ensure constructability, operability and compliance with client requirements.
• Interface with Sydney Water, design consultants, equipment suppliers and key stakeholders.
• Support tender preparation, value engineering and design development activities.
• Coordinate procurement of pumps, pipework, valves, odour control systems, HVAC systems, pressure vessels and process equipment.
• Develop installation methodologies and construction staging plans.
• Manage mechanical subcontractors and suppliers throughout project delivery.
• Participate in HAZOP, CHAIR, design reviews and constructability workshops.
• Support testing, commissioning and handover activities.
• Provide technical leadership and mentoring to junior engineers and project teams.
• Assist with quality assurance, risk management and defect resolution activities.

What You Will Bring:

• Degree qualification in Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum 8-10 years' experience delivering water, wastewater or infrastructure projects.
• Demonstrated experience with:
• Water and wastewater pumping stations
• Water treatment plants
• Wastewater treatment facilities
• Reservoirs and process infrastructure
• Large-diameter pipelines and pressure systems
• Strong understanding of pumps, pipework systems, valves and treatment process equipment.
• Experience working in D&C, EPC or construction delivery environments.
• Ability to manage design consultants and specialist subcontractors.
• Excellent stakeholder and client management skills.
• Experience working on Sydney Water or similar utility authority projects highly regarded.
