Job summary

Glencore Technology in Brisbane is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our engineering team, delivering innovative solutions for pyrometallurgical and smelting projects. You will lead a small team of engineers and draughtsmen, prepare calculations and design documentation, and manage project scopes, budgets and schedules.

Requirements include a Bachelor in Mechanical Engineering, 8+ years experience, RPEQ eligibility, strong communication skills, and willingness to travel

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering required.
• 8+ years post-graduate experience in mechanical engineering.
• Eligible for RPEQ status.
• Experience with high-temperature plant equipment and process facilities.
• Proven ability to work safely in industrial/smelter environments.
• Ability to deliver designs with minimal supervision.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Willingness to travel internationally.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and mentor a small team of engineers and draughtsmen across multiple projects.
• Prepare engineering calculations, specifications, drawings and data sheets.
• Develop project scopes, plant designs, layouts, equipment design and commissioning plans.
• Develop project estimates and budgets.
• Ensure designs are optimised and cost estimates competitive while maintaining integrity.
• Identify opportunities for design innovation and improvements.
• Liaise with vendors, suppliers and fabricators for QA and testing requirements.
• Travel internationally as required.
• Collaborate with process, structural, piping, electrical and project engineers.
