Job summary

GHD is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer (HVAC) in the ACT region. You will lead HVAC design for complex projects, oversee mechanical engineering design for HVAC, BMS and electrification solutions, and mentor junior staff within a multidisciplinary team across NSW/ACT.

Qualifications

• A relevant university degree in Mechanical Engineering
• 7–15 years experience in HVAC within a consulting environment
• Familiarity with NCC and Australian Standards
• Proficient with Revit, Bluebeam and heat load software (Camel, HAP)

As our business continues to grow, we're seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer (HVAC) to join a multidisciplinary team of engineers, architects and designers. Based in Sydney, Newcastle, Canberra or Wollongong, you’ll bring specialist experience in HVAC to join our Design and Building Engineering group for NSW/ACT.

This position presents an excellent opportunity to contribute meaningfully to local building projects within our region, while collaborating as a member of an established global technical team at a leading international consultancy.

The role offers significant potential for professional development, including mentoring junior staff and benefiting from guidance provided by our Technical Directors.

Working with an energetic and high performing team, this position offers a variety of work and will see you involved in:

• Leading high-profile buildings projects that shape our built environment.
• Overseeing mechanical engineering design for HVAC, BMS and electrification solutions projects for complex construction initiatives.
• Opportunity to work on a wide variety of projects, including nationally-significant buildings, interstate and international locations.
• Providing clients with expert technical guidance and strategic advice, while developing and maintaining strong and supportive client relationships
• Providing leadership to project teams and offering guidance and mentoring to junior team members

What would you bring to the team?

• A relevant university degree in Mechanical Engineering
• Between 7 and 15 years of experience and proven expertise in HVAC Systems from within a consulting environment.
• Familiarity with NCC, and proven experience working with Australian Standards
• Competent with Revit, Bluebeam, heat load software (Camel, HAP, etc).
• Demonstrable project experience on variety of commercial project types, from new-builds to refurbishment, in variety of sectors (i.e. office, health, education, public buildings, etc), climates and HVAC system types.
• Membership of Engineers Australia and working towards CPEng and NER registration is desirable.
• Strong communication skills and ability to engage confidently with clients and stakeholders.
• A passion for delivering high-quality, bespoke solutions and mentoring others.
