Senior Mechanical Engineer | Data Centres | Sydney

I’m working with a major data centre owner/operator looking to add a Senior Mechanical Engineer to its Sydney engineering team.

This would suit someone who has built their career in Building Services consultancy design, has strong data centre experience and is interested in moving across to the owner/operator side.

It’s a broader engineering role than you’d typically get in consultancy.

You’ll be involved across the lifecycle of their data centres, from development and technical due diligence through design and delivery, commissioning, operations, upgrades and optimisation. You’ll work closely with internal development and operations teams as well as the consultants, contractors and suppliers delivering the projects.

The role will include reviewing and challenging designs, providing technical guidance, identifying risk and making sure resilience, efficiency, maintainability and operational requirements are considered throughout the process.

You’ll also be working under a highly experienced Mechanical data centre specialist, so it’s a great opportunity to broaden your experience on the owner side while continuing to develop technically.

They’re looking for:

• Strong knowledge of data centre cooling and mechanical infrastructure
• Good understanding of resilience, redundancy and maintainability
• Experience across design, delivery and commissioning
• Confidence reviewing consultant designs and providing technical guidance
• Strong stakeholder skills across consultants, contractors and internal project teams

The business is a growing data centre owner/operator with an expanding portfolio across Australia, New Zealand and Asia. They develop and operate major facilities for cloud, hyperscale and enterprise customers, with plenty more in the pipeline.
