Job summary

Buildability Group in Sydney is seeking a Senior Services Manager to lead delivery of a major Data Centre project valued at $500m+. You will oversee services on the client side, manage Head Contractor relations, and drive safety, quality and schedule on the project.

Ideal candidates will have 10+ years’ experience with Tier 1/2 head contractors or consultancies in complex Data Centre environments and a proven track record in managing D&C building services packages on $100M+ projects.

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering.
• Experience leading large-scale, complex building projects, ideally Data Centres.
• Experience with managing D&C building services packages on projects valued $100M+.
• Clear communicator with strong safety, quality control, and delivery focus.

Responsibilities

• Oversee flow of technical information between engineering disciplines and stakeholders, ensuring compliance with specs and standards.
• Manage construction contracts, including due diligence and third-party agreements, on behalf of the client.
• Report to Head of Construction on progress, forecast, budget, procurement and schedule updates.
• Provide end-to-end oversight of assigned projects, focusing on value, safety and quality of contracted works.
• Identify opportunities to optimise delivery, timelines or innovation and liaise with consultants as needed.
• Lead meetings and maintain communication with key stakeholders from design to handover.
• Build partnerships with suppliers and vendors to enhance the function’s capability.
• Mentor junior staff and contribute to team growth and culture.

The company have been in business for many years and have a huge portfolio of complex Data Centre projects for the next few years. Their projects are built to Tier III+ standards and their facilities feature redundant power, advanced cooling and multi-layered security to ensure maximum uptime and efficiency.

WHAT'S ON OFFER

Our client is looking for a Senior Services Manager to work on a major complex Data Centre project $500m+. You'll play a key role in delivering Data Centre construction projects on time and within budget. This is a great opportunity to get into this blue chip business and work on one of the largest Data Centre projects in Sydney. You will be the lead guy across all Services personal and will be heavily involved in managing the Head Contractor from a Client-Side perspective. Ideally we are looking for Senior Services Manager from Head Contractor background that wants to come across to a client but are also open to candidates from consultancy / client side in the Data Centre arena.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Oversee the flow of technical information between engineering disciplines and stakeholders in construction projects, ensuring compliance with specifications and standards
• Manage construction contracts, including due diligence and compliance for third-party agreements, on behalf of the client
• Report to the Head of Construction on project progress, forecasting, budget control, procurement, and schedule updates
• Ensure end-to-end oversight of assigned construction projects, focusing on value management, safety, structural adequacy and verification of contracted works
• Identify opportunities to optimise delivery, timelines or innovation and liaise with consultants as needed
• Conduct meetings and maintain regular communication with key stakeholders, including Services Managers and Engineers from design through to handover
• Build strong partnerships with suppliers and vendors while collaborating with peers to enhance the function’s capability
• Contribute to the growth of the team, providing leadership, mentoring junior staff and fostering a positive culture

KEY REQUIREMENTS

• Relevant degree qualification in Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering
• Proven experience managing large-scale, complex building projects, ideally in critical infrastructure environments like Data Centres or hospitals
• Minimum 10yrs experience working for a Tier 1 or Tier 2 head contractor or Consultancy on complex projects ideally Data Centres
• Proven experience managing D&C building services packages on complex construction projects valued $100M+
• Experience with the installation, maintenance and testing of essential Building services - Mechanical, Electrical and Hydraulic
• Must be a clear communicator, able to work effectively with stakeholders and have a strong focus on safety, quality control and delivering high standards
• Sound understanding and application of statutory legislation including knowledge of the OHS Act, Building Code of Australia and the relevant services Australian Standards.
• Strong communication & leadership skills, you will be managing multiple internal and external stakeholders
