Job summary

Hydro Innovations in Sydney seeks a Mechanical Engineer to lead the design and delivery of engineered pump packages and packaged pump stations, owning projects from tender assistance through commissioning.

This hands-on role uses Inventor 3D CAD, manages multiple projects concurrently, and supports ISO 9001 quality systems as the business grows. You will contribute to product development for the Australian market.

Qualifications

• Mechanical engineering degree required.
• CAD drawing skills with Inventor 3D experience.
• Experience in design or packaging of rotating equipment (pumps, engines, drives).
• Strong multi-project management ability.
• Hands-on approach and problem-solving mindset.

Responsibilities

• Design pump packages and systems, selecting pumps, motors, engines, drives and instrumentation.
• Develop and maintain Inventor 3D CAD drawings for builds.
• Prepare pump quotations and support tenders with technical input.
• Specify level controls and control panels for packaged pump stations.
• Project manage contracts through to handover, including testing and site commissioning.
• Attend customer sites for commissioning and troubleshooting as needed.
• Manage workshop staff and oversee assembly and testing.
• Support ISO 9001 quality system improvements.
• Assist with product development and new technologies for the Australian market.

Job description

Reporting to the General Manager, you will lead the design and delivery of engineered pump packages and packaged pump stations. You will work with world-leading products in wastewater and industrial fluid handling, taking ownership of projects from tender assistance through to commissioning and handover, with scope to shape and grow the engineering function as the business grows. This is a hands-on role in a small, fast-moving business: decisions are made quickly and you will own outcomes from first sketch to commissioned system.

Key responsibilities

Design pump packages and systems, including the selection and integration of pumps, electric motors and diesel engines, drives, bases, guards and instrumentation

Develop and maintain CAD drawings (Inventor 3D) for all builds

Prepare pump and project quotations and provide technical support for tenders

Specify level controls and control panels for packaged pump stations

Project manage contracts through to handover, including factory testing and site commissioning

Attend customer sites for commissioning and troubleshooting as required

Manage workshop staff and oversee the assembly and testing of builds

Maintain and continually improve the ISO 9001 quality management system

Assist with product development and the introduction of new technologies to the Australian market

About you

A degree in Mechanical Engineering

CAD drawing skills, including experience with Inventor 3D

Experience in the design or packaging of rotating equipment such as pumps, engines and drive systems

Strong project management skills and the ability to manage several projects concurrently

Drive and pace - you thrive in a fast-moving environment where decisions are made quickly and you own the outcome
