Job summary

Wood is seeking a Mechanical Designer to join its Brisbane Mining & Mineral group, based in the city centre. This full‑time permanent role supports expanding battery and magnet metals projects and the drive toward a net zero future.

You will create 2D and 3D models and drawings of mechanical plant layouts, translate concepts into completed designs, and liaise with other disciplines to deliver compliant, on-time solutions.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of experience in a design/drafting role in mining and minerals processing
• Ability to problem-solve effectively
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Self-motivated with ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team

Responsibilities

• Creating 2D and 3D models and drawings of mechanical plant layouts
• Taking concepts through to completion
• Translating sketches into detailed design models and drawings
• Providing input into design and layout issues
• Ensuring designs comply with client, discipline, statutory regulations and procedures
