Job summary

MCA Engineering is seeking a Mechanical / Structural Designer / Draftsperson with a mining materials handling background for a permanent role in Thornton, NSW. The role focuses on concept development, 3D modelling, and structural calculations to modify equipment for workable solutions.

You will support early projects, shape the design approach, identify engineering risks, and validate system concepts, contributing to feasibility studies and documentation.

Qualifications

• Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering is required.
• Familiar with Australian Standards and multidisciplinary reading of technical documents.
• Experience in materials handling design (mining, conveyors, bulk materials) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Conduct investigative engineering for new or modified materials handling systems.
• Develop conceptual layouts and models.
• Assist in feasibility studies and early-stage design reviews.
• Liaise other engineering resources on technical requirements.
• Contribute to preliminary documentation, risk assessments, and scope development as applicable.
