Job summary

ProFound People Pty Ltd in Adelaide is seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to lead the end-to-end design of bespoke machinery and equipment.

You will produce detailed 3D models and drawings, coordinate project workloads, mentor engineers, and ensure compliance with Australian standards throughout concept to manufacture and commissioning.

Qualifications

• 5–8 years of mechanical design engineering experience.
• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• Proficiency with 3D CAD software (Inventor, SolidWorks, Fusion 360).
• Experience designing bespoke machinery or heavy equipment.
• Strong knowledge of Australian engineering standards.
• Experience managing the full design lifecycle from concept to manufacture.
• Understanding of manufacturing processes and assembly.
• Ability to mentor and coordinate engineers to meet deadlines.

ROLE – Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

SALARY - $150,000 - $175,000 per annum, dependent on experience

TYPE – Permanent

My client specialises in the design and manufacture of bespoke machinery and equipment. They are looking for a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join their team in Adelaide on a permanent basis.

The Senior Mechanical Design Engineer will ideally have the following attributes:

• At least 5-8 years of experience in Mechanical Design Engineering, ideally within machinery, mining equipment or heavy industry
• Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering or similar
• Highly skilled with 3D CAD software, ideally Inventor, SolidWorks, Fusion 360 or similar
• Experience designing bespoke machinery, heavy equipment, pumps, skids or industrial systems
• Strong understanding of Australian engineering standards and relevant design codes
• Proven experience managing the full design lifecycle, from concept and detailed design through to manufacture and commissioning
• Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, including fabrication, machining and assembly
• Experienced with engineering calculations, design verification, testing and validation
• Able to lead projects, manage technical requirements and coordinate the work of other engineers
• Confident mentoring junior engineers and providing technical guidance
• Able to work autonomously, manage competing priorities and deliver projects to deadlines

The Senior Mechanical Design Engineer role will involve:

• Leading the design and development of bespoke machinery and equipment from concept through to manufacture
• Producing detailed 3D models, engineering drawings and technical documentation
• Managing projects, design deliverables and technical requirements
• Ensuring designs comply with Australian standards and relevant engineering codes
