Job description

About Us

Children's Hospital Foundation funds cutting-edge equipment, vital research and on the ground support for kids with all illnesses, injuries and conditions, throughout Queensland and northern New South Wales. We identify and action gaps in funding and support right across the kids’ health landscape – the places left lacking but no less deserving.

Care Closer to Home

Every child deserves access to high-quality healthcare, regardless of where they live. Across Queensland, too many children and families face significant barriers to accessing the care they need, with distance, travel, cost and geography all impacting health outcomes and placing additional pressure on families during some of the most challenging times in their lives.

Through our new statewide Care Closer to Home initiative, the Children's Hospital Foundation is working alongside Hospital and Health Services, communities, regional hospital foundations and other partners to support locally led solutions that strengthen paediatric healthcare across Queensland. Built on partnership, listening and shared responsibility, this initiative will invest in local priorities, build strong regional relationships and mobilise new funding so more children can receive the right care, in the right place, at the right time.

The role

The Senior Manager, Statewide Campaigns and Communications is the accountable lead for the delivery of the Children's Hospital Foundation’s Care Closer to Home statewide program, including the statewide funding announcements and the inaugural Statewide Giving Day in 2027.

The role supports the Chief Growth Officer with government administration and the coordination of ministerial and Member of Parliament visits, announcements and associated media. It manages the Foundation’s fundraising agency, Donor Republic, and its PR agency, and is responsible for ensuring every deadline and deliverable across the program is met on time and within budget. Working in partnership with hospitals and hospital foundations across Queensland, the role builds the relationships, trust and shared ownership that the statewide program depends on.

is a full time, 12 month fixed term role, with the possibility of extension, and is based at our corporate offices in South Brisbane.

Who are you?
  • You are a confident, collaborative communicator who can bring people together around a shared purpose and build trust across diverse stakeholder groups.
  • You are highly organised and calm under pressure, with the ability to manage multiple moving parts, tight timeframes and competing priorities without losing sight of the detail.
  • You bring sound judgement, discretion and political awareness, particularly when working with government, media, health partners and regional communities.
  • You are outcomes focused, proactive and comfortable taking ownership of complex work, while working generously and constructively with others to achieve shared results.
Key criteria

To be successful in this role, you will possess the following:

  • Tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline.
  • Minimum six years’ experience in senior campaigns, communications, public affairs, media or fundraising roles, ideally in the not-for-profit, health or government sectors.
  • Strong experience delivering integrated fundraising, marketing, communications or PR campaigns, from planning through to evaluation.
  • Proven ability to manage government engagement, media opportunities and announcements, including briefings, visits, spokesperson preparation, pitching and regional media activity.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to tailor compelling content for media, government, community, executive and board audiences.
  • Strong understanding of the Queensland media landscape, with established media relationships highly regarded.
  • Excellent project management skills, including the ability to manage complex workstreams, agencies, suppliers, budgets and deadlines.
  • Strong relationship management skills, with experience working with regional communities, partner organisations, senior stakeholders and cross-functional teams.
  • Sound judgement, discretion and political awareness, with knowledge of fundraising legislation and charitable giving practices.
  • Willingness to travel within Queensland as required.
