Job summary

Westpac Group seeks a Senior Manager, Credit Assurance to lead independent hindsight reviews of credit decisions across Business and Wealth portfolios. Based in Sydney or Melbourne, this 18-month max term role focuses on strengthening credit decision quality and risk management through feedback and actionable insights.

You will partner with decision makers and stakeholders, escalating emerging themes and systemic risks while supporting improved credit policy application and governance.

Qualifications

• Strong experience in credit decisioning, credit risk, assurance or Business Banking.
• Ability to analyse financial information, assess credit risk and reach evidence-based conclusions.
• Knowledge of credit policy, Credit Approval Authority application and credit risk management.
• Clear written and verbal communication, with constructive feedback.
• Strong stakeholder management, influencing and problem-solving.

What’s the role?

This is an 18-month max term opportunity where you’ll help strengthen credit decision quality across our Business and Wealth portfolios by leading independent hindsight reviews of credit decisions. As part of a broader investment in additional oversight and assurance across Business and Wealth, you’ll assess how credit policies and Credit Approval Authority requirements have been applied, provide clear and constructive feedback, and turn review findings into practical insights that improve credit risk management.

You’ll work closely with credit decision makers and business stakeholders, bringing an independent perspective while building strong working relationships. You’ll also support the identification and escalation of emerging themes, recurring issues and systemic risks.

The role can be based in Sydney, Warrane, Gadigal Country or Melbourne, Naarm, Wurundjeri Country.

What do I need?

• Strong experience in credit decisioning, credit risk, assurance or Business Banking
• The ability to analyse financial information, assess credit risk and reach balanced, evidence-based conclusions
• Knowledge of credit policy, Credit Approval Authority application and credit risk management
• Clear written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to provide constructive feedback and practical guidance
• Strong stakeholder management, influencing and problem-solving capabilities
