Job summary

Commonwealth Bank is seeking a Mainframe Systems Engineer to own and enhance the platforms that manage critical mainframe software delivery from source to production. You will ensure controlled, repeatable, auditable deployment across enterprise environments with strong production safeguards.

You will connect established mainframe SCM practices with Git, CI/CD, APIs and automation, strengthening resilience and release integrity while reducing manual work.

Qualifications

• Strong mainframe foundations across IBM z/OS and related tools.
• Experience integrating mainframe deployment with Git and CI/CD.
• Familiarity with enterprise tooling and release practices.

Responsibilities

• Engineer, administer and enhance mainframe deployment platforms and lifecycle.
• Design source, build, promotion, and deployment pathways with approvals.
• Automate build, packaging and deployment across COBOL, PL/I, Assembler and JCL.
• Improve Endeavor processors and integrations with enterprise tooling.
• Diagnose complex build and deployment issues across environments.
• Strengthen release integrity with versioning, traceability and audit controls.
• Reduce manual activity via APIs, scripting and automation, integrating SCM with Git/CI/CD.
