Job summary

CHU Underwriting Agencies in Canberra seeks a Senior Loss Adjuster to manage a portfolio of large property and strata loss claims. You will collaborate with specialists to drive timely settlements and develop the broader team's expertise.

The role requires 5+ years in property claims (including strata) and strong negotiation, communication, and travel readiness. AICLA/ANZIIF qualifications are preferred, with a supportive, inclusive work culture.

Qualifications

What your new job looks like

Day to day you will be managing a portfolio of large loss work, using your technical skills and expertise to collaborate with specialists and drive a timely outcome and settlement. The Senior Loss Adjuster will also help to develop the expertise and knowledge of the broader team.

• Prior experience in handling large personal lines and commercial lines losses with exposure up to $500K
• In-depth knowledge of property and construction, conducting thorough and detailed site inspections
• Experience in scoping and estimating large loss exposures
• Ability to prepare accurate, clear, thorough and concise reports in a timely manner to progress claim
• Ability to coordinate with lead adjusters/managers on pending claim files requiring additional investigation
• Prior experience in negotiating settlements with insured in accordance with recommended best practices guidelines and limits of authority
• Provide coaching and mentoring to develop the skill set of the broader team

Especially if you can talk to us about your:

• Relevant tertiary qualifications or equivalent knowledge
• Minimum of 5 years of property claims handling experience (including strata) / 5 years Loss Adjusting
• Experience with commercial and catastrophe claims
• Research and investigative abilities; negotiating, conflict resolution and persuasive abilities
• Superior verbal and written communication skills, including large-group presentation skills
• A full driver's licence and ability to be mobile with travel.
• AICLADiploma in Loss Adjusting or qualifications attained through ANZIIF
• Thorough knowledge of commercial and residential construction industries
• Knowledge of property claims law and jurisdictional issues
