Job summary

seek.com.au in Banksmeadow, Sydney, is seeking an experienced Licensed Customs Broker to join our Customs team. You will prepare and lodge import declarations, ensure tariff classification, duties and GST calculations, and provide expert advice to clients.

You will liaise with Australian Border Force, manage permits for restricted goods, maintain records, and work across diverse commodities. CargoWise experience preferred; a permanent on-site role with parking.

Qualifications

• Current Licensed Customs Broker qualification with CPD up to date.
• At least 5 years' experience in customs brokerage.
• Strong knowledge of tariff classification, customs valuation, duty and GST requirements, and the Customs Act.
• Experience across a broad range of commodities and regulatory requirements.
• Sound understanding of restricted and prohibited goods, including permit processes.
• Excellent attention to detail and a strong commitment to compliance.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities while meeting deadlines.
• Strong communication skills and a professional approach with clients and government agencies.
• Experience using CargoWise (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Prepare and lodge import customs declarations in accordance with legislative requirements.
• Ensure accurate tariff classification, customs valuation, duty and GST calculations, and apply relevant concessions.
• Provide clear, professional advice to clients on import regulations, tariff requirements, and documentation.
• Liaise with the Australian Border Force and Biosecurity officers as required.
• Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with all customs legislation and regulatory requirements.
• Manage permit requirements for restricted and prohibited goods, ensuring approvals are obtained before clearance.
