Job summary

Beacon Legal in Sydney seeks a Senior Legal Counsel with 6+ years of experience in planning, environment and regulatory law to provide broad advisory support on major infrastructure projects and operations. You will work directly with project teams, government agencies and regulators, offering practical, commercially minded guidance.

Qualifications

• Admitted to practise in Australia with current practising certificate or eligibility.
• 6+ years’ experience in planning, environment and/or regulatory law.
• Experience advising on regulatory compliance, regulator engagement, investigations or enforcement matters.

Responsibilities

• Advise on planning and environmental approvals and regulatory compliance across major projects and operations.
• Support regulatory investigations and incident responses and liaise with regulators.
• Guide business through legislative and policy developments and translate requirements into practical advice.
• Manage information access requests and protect privilege and commercial interests.
• Develop strategies for disputes, litigation and mediations and coordinate with external counsel.
• Draft and review legal documents and support negotiations alongside technical and commercial stakeholders.
