Job summary

Wolf & Williams in Perth, WA is seeking an experienced Senior Legal Counsel to lead complex construction contracts and advise the executive team. You will work with a lean, high-caliber legal and commercial group to manage multi‑party transactions, tendering, and regulatory matters, with flexible work options including some work from home.

The ideal candidate brings 8+ years of PQE in construction projects, strong contract drafting and negotiation skills, and a collaborative, proactive mindset.

Qualifications

• 8+ years PQE with projects and construction experience.
• Strong technical construction law skill set including contract drafting, negotiation, and advisory work.
• Proven ability to manage complex, multi-party transactions with a commercial and solutions-focused mindset.
• Collaborative and proactive approach, thriving in a lean and high-performing team.

Responsibilities

• Review and advise on terms of construction contracts at tender stage (e.g., D&C, O&M, EPC, GC21, ECI).
• Lead or support procurement and tender processes, including RFPs, EOIs, and bid evaluations.
• Advise on risk allocation, liability regimes, security, warranties, liquidated damages, and insurance in contracts from a developer's perspective.
• Support structuring and documentation of joint ventures and collaboration arrangements.
• Coordinate with internal teams to align contracts with commercial objectives and project delivery.
• Advise on planning, development approvals, and regulatory issues relevant to contracting.
• Review contracts across corporate HR and IT.
• Coordinate and oversee external counsel.
• Assist with environmental and planning regulatory matters.
• Provide proactive legal and commercial guidance to minimise disputes.
