Job summary

Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand (CA ANZ) is seeking a Senior Lawyer, Conduct & Discipline to investigate complex complaints involving CA ANZ members and to deliver fair, robust disciplinary processes. You will work with the Australian Conduct Leader, colleagues and independent panels from investigation through to committee and tribunal proceedings.

Qualifications

• A tertiary qualification in law.
• Current Australian practising certificate or eligibility and willingness to obtain one.
• Experience managing complex investigations involving multiple individuals, members, organisations or firms.
• Ability to quickly understand complex matters and develop clear investigation/case strategies.
• Experience presenting persuasive cases before tribunals, disciplinary bodies or similar forums.
• Strong judgement, resilience and organisational skills.

Responsibilities

• Investigate complex complaints and member conduct matters in accordance with CA ANZ's Charter, By-Laws, Regulations and Guidelines.
• Prepare and manage matters for consideration by the Professional Conduct Committee, Disciplinary Tribunal and Appeals Council.
• Apply sound legal judgement and procedural fairness when analysing evidence and developing investigation strategies.
• Build trusted professional relationships with members, complainants, disciplinary panel members and internal stakeholders while maintaining independence and confidentiality.
• Strengthen the team's capability and processes by sharing expertise, coaching colleagues, supporting panel training and contributing to continuous improvement.
