Job summary

Interface Agency Australia is seeking two Senior Java Developers to join a lean, high-performing delivery team in Sydney or Melbourne. This AI-native project uses Claude and other AI tools to accelerate delivery for a leading insurer.

You will work directly with business stakeholders and Australian country leadership to design, build and deploy an underwriter enablement system that centralises insurance workflows, with end-to-end ownership and a strong emphasis on quality.

Qualifications

• Strong Java with Spring Boot for enterprise apps.
• Experience with Kafka and event-driven architectures.
• Front-end exposure with Angular (or React).
• Knowledge of CI/CD and Kubernetes.
• Experience using AI coding tools in professional settings.
• Australian-based with Sydney or Melbourne work rights.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop full-stack features with Java, Spring Boot, Kafka, and Angular.
• Own delivery end-to-end, including architecture decisions.
• Use AI coding tools (Claude) to maximize throughput.
• Write and maintain unit, integration, load, and contract tests with TDD.
• Collaborate with Australian business leads and country heads in Sydney/Melbourne.
• Build internal utilities and tooling in Python to support AI workflows.
• Manage CI/CD pipelines and Kubernetes deployments on Azure.
• Ensure code quality regardless of AI generation.
