Job summary

The Australian Digital Health Agency is seeking a Software Engineer (API Java Developer) EL1 to design, develop and support secure, scalable API and system integration solutions for national digital health systems. You will lead API development, integration and DevOps practices while collaborating with stakeholders to deliver cloud-enabled services.

Responsibilities include building RESTful APIs, ensuring data security, interoperability, and implementing CI/CD pipelines and containerisation.

Qualifications

Mandatory: Java, REST API, HL7 FHIR, Healthcare application experience, end-to-end testing (REST, performance, unit), OAuth, containerisation, CI/CD pipelines, privacy, audit and logging, DevOps/GitOps processes.
Desirable: Spring/Springboot/Quarkus, database, test automation tools, Kubernetes, integration skills (data mapping), terminology servers.

Responsibilities

Design, develop and support secure, scalable RESTful APIs and integration services using modern Java technologies.
Deliver interoperable solutions that support secure data exchange through industry standards and integration best practices.
Implement API security controls, including authentication, authorisation, auditing and privacy safeguards.
Apply modern DevOps practices, including automated testing, CI/CD pipelines and containerisation, to ensure reliable software delivery.
