Job summary

The Onset Group is seeking a hands-on Head of IT & Infrastructure in Sydney to take full ownership of networks, cloud, security and engineering systems. You will shape the IT roadmap, own budgeting and vendor relations, and build the function as the business scales.

In this senior, high-ownership role, you’ll blend hands-on technical work with strategic planning, ensuring reliability, security and scalable infrastructure across on-prem and cloud environments to support rapid growth.

Qualifications

• Excellent networking fundamentals with hands-on switches, routing, firewalls, VLANs.
• Broad systems administration across Linux, Windows, virtualization and storage.
• Strong Microsoft identity experience, Entra ID, Active Directory and hybrid environments.
• Experience managing cloud infrastructure, ideally AWS, plus on-premise systems.
• Scripting and infrastructure automation experience.
• Good security fundamentals across identity, access, endpoints and infrastructure.
• Experience in growing businesses and ownership of systems.
• Ability to move between hands-on work and long-term infrastructure planning.

Responsibilities

• Networking design and operation of the network environment, including switches, routing, VLANs and firewalls.
• Manage Linux and Windows environments, servers, virtualization, storage and backups.
• Support and improve AWS, on-premises infrastructure with a focus on reliability and security.
• Manage Microsoft Entra ID, Active Directory, SSO, MFA, device management and access controls.
• Implement security controls and support compliance requirements.
• Maintain infrastructure supporting engineering teams and CI environments.
• Take responsibility for infrastructure planning, vendors, budgets and scaling the IT function.
