Job summary

ROUSSOS Recruitment is partnering with an established national design business to appoint a Senior Interior Designer in its Adelaide studio. You will lead commercial interior projects from concept through to delivery and mentor junior designers while staying hands-on in design and documentation.

You will guide design development, client relationships and project coordination, with flexibility around hours and working arrangements.

Qualifications

• 7+ years' commercial interior design experience, with 10+ years highly regarded.
• Proven experience leading projects across concept, design development, documentation and delivery.
• Strong concept design, space planning and technical capability.
• Advanced Revit capability and strong design documentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead interior design projects across the full project lifecycle, working closely with clients, consultants and the broader design team.
• Develop design concepts, space planning and design solutions.
• Manage client relationships, presentations, workshops and design discussions.
• Remain hands-on with design development and technical documentation.
• Coordinate consultants, stakeholders, project programmes and deliverables.
• Review documentation and maintain high standards of design and technical quality.
• Mentor and support junior and intermediate designers.
• Provide day-to-day guidance and contribute to the development of the Adelaide interiors team.
• Support the Studio leadership team with design direction and project oversight.

The Opportunity

ROUSSOS Recruitment is exclusively partnering with an established national design business to appoint a Senior Interior Designer to its Adelaide studio.

Working across commercial interiors, including workplace, government and other public and private-sector environments, the Adelaide team delivers a diverse portfolio of considered, design-led projects for established clients.

You will play a key role in leading projects, developing design outcomes and building strong client relationships, while also supporting the development of junior and intermediate designers within the team.

The role is particularly well suited to a Senior Interior Designer who is already mentoring others and is ready to make that a more formal part of their role.

You will remain hands-on across design, documentation and delivery, while taking greater ownership of team coordination, design quality and project leadership.

There is also flexibility around working arrangements, including consideration of a four-day week and flexible start and finish times for the right person.

• Contributing to the continued growth and success of the Adelaide studio

We are looking for an experienced Senior Interior Designer who is ready to broaden their leadership responsibilities while remaining closely connected to the design process.

You will ideally bring:

• 7+ years' commercial interior design experience, with 10+ years highly regarded
• Proven experience leading projects across concept, design development, documentation and delivery
• Strong concept design, space planning and technical capability
• Advanced Revit capability and strong design documentation skills
• Confidence managing clients, consultants and project stakeholders
• Experience reviewing documentation and maintaining design and technical quality
• Previous experience mentoring or supporting junior and intermediate designers
• A collaborative and approachable leadership style
• The confidence to take ownership, make decisions and provide direction to others

You may already be taking on informal team leadership responsibilities, or you may be an established Senior Interior Designer ready to step into a more structured leadership role.
