George Lord in Melbourne is seeking a Senior Injection Moulding Technician for the permanent night shift. You will lead responses to machine stops, set up and optimise moulding equipment, and train floor operators in a fast-moving automated environment with IML, robotics and camera inspection.
The role involves taking over from the afternoon shift and handing over to day shift, with a settled team and opportunities to develop expertise across the plant.
This role sits within an automated injection moulding operation running IML and robotics. Night shift needs its most experienced moulder: the person who gets a stopped machine running again, keeps every process on target through the night, and builds the operators' skills as they work.
You'll work alongside the night shift leader, with a capable team around you.
The business invests heavily in equipment and automation so the technology handles the repetitive work and people bring real skill to theirs. Operators are developed to understand the process, and the plant is moving towards data-driven moulding, using real production data from connected machines to optimise performance.
First response when a machine stops: diagnosing the fault, recovering the machine and getting it back into production
Setting up, adjusting and optimising injection moulding machines across the shift
Troubleshooting processing faults and correcting them on the floor
Carrying out tool changes and changeovers
Training operators on the floor and building their skills shift by shift
Monitoring quality, output and machine performance, including camera inspection
Taking over from afternoon shift and handing over cleanly to day shift
Automated injection moulding and in-mould labelling, with robotics and camera inspection through the plant
High-volume food packaging with steady, consistent workflow
A settled team, including people who have been with the business for years
Monday to Friday nights, 10.30pm to 6.30am, with weekends free
Initial training on day and afternoon shift to learn the machines and the production flow
Several years of hands-on injection moulding experience as a technician, setter or processor
Exposure to IML, robotics, vision systems or thin-wall packaging is a real advantage
Ready for a permanent night roster
Full Australian working rights and currently based in Australia
From $112,000 + super (includes night shift loading)
Up to $80 a month towards a mobile phone
Permanent full-time role in a growing operation
A business that develops people from within
Melbourne northern suburbs, a practical commute from the north or north-west
If you're the moulder others on the floor come to when a machine stops, and you're looking for a permanent night shift where that experience will be put to good use, I'd like to hear from you.
