Job summary

Kinexus Australia is seeking a Senior Infrastructure Engineer for a defence prime project in Sydney. The role leads build and management of internal systems and bespoke defence ICT technologies, ensuring high security and uptime in line with DISP and DSPF frameworks.

You will configure and manage Dell/VMware server environments, support LAN/cloud/infrastructure for engineering teams, and drive improvements across applications and platforms. NV1 clearance is essential.

Qualifications

• NV1 security clearance required at application.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, ICT, MIS or related field plus 10+ years IT experience with 3+ years leading teams.
• Proven experience with Dell and VMware-based server environments.

Responsibilities

Senior Infrastructure Engineer - Defence Prime Business

Permanent position - $160k to $180k base salary plus extensive benefits

Sydney based position

Kinexus is a specialist defence and national security recruitment agency with over 25 years of working and specialising in the industry. We have partnered with a large defence prime business to search for a Senior System Administrator who can lead the build and management of internal business systems and bespoke defence ICT technologies.

We're looking for someone who is able to build, configure and manage physical and virtual server environments, corporate ICT infrastructure supporting engineering and development teams, and support and configurate enterprise and bespoke applications. This digital and physical ICT environment supports the delivery of critical services and products to the ADF, making it critical to maintain high security and uptime of these systems in line with DISP and defence security frameworks.

In This Role You Will

• Support the implementation, technical support and administration of local infrastructure (network/servers/storage/databases/applications/backups), and assist with scoping and implementing solutions
• Manage vendors, contracts, and internal stakeholder relationships to ensure required service levels are maintained, while owning issues and solutions through to completion
• Ensure infrastructure and application controls follow defence security policies and requirements (DISP, DSPF, E8, etc), producing and reviewing compliance reports on a regular basis
• Manage the budget and track costs of digital technology services, hardware and software, while driving continuous improvement of systems and services
• Manage and support ICT systems upgrade and implementation projects

What's Needed From You

• Minimum of NV1 security clearance is required for this role at the point of application, candidates without this cannot be considered.
• Bachelor's degree (or equivalent experience) in Computer Science, ICT, Management Information Systems, or a related field, with 10 years of IT-related experience including at least 3 years in a lead role
• Proven technical experience across Dell and VMware-based servers
• Experience across LAN infrastructure, cloud platforms, Windows and Linux servers, high availability/clustered environments, and applications such as SharePoint are all highly appreciated.
• Strong leadership, project management, and analytical/problem-solving skills, coupled with excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, and the flexibility to work autonomously across a variety of tasks, priorities
