Job summary

Calleo is seeking an experienced Infrastructure Engineer to design, implement, and support enterprise infrastructure across on-premises and hybrid cloud environments from its Canberra location.

The role emphasizes security, availability, and continuous service improvement, with responsibilities spanning automation, patching, and collaboration with cloud, networking, and cybersecurity teams. NV1 security clearance is required or pursued as part of eligibility.

Qualifications

• Experience administering enterprise infrastructure across on-premises and hybrid environments.
• Strong server, virtualization, storage, backup, networking, and identity management skills.
• Experience deploying, maintaining, patching, and troubleshooting infrastructure services in large ICT environments.
• Understanding of infrastructure security, vulnerability management, risk management, and compliance requirements.
• Ability to document technical and operational procedures clearly.
• Based in or willing to work from Canberra.

About the Role

As an Infrastructure Engineer, you will be responsible for the design, implementation, maintenance, and ongoing support of enterprise infrastructure platforms and services. You will play a key role in ensuring the availability, performance, security, and continuous improvement of infrastructure systems while collaborating closely with technical teams, business stakeholders, and external vendors.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, implement, maintain, and support enterprise infrastructure services, including:
  • Server platforms
  • Virtualisation technologies
  • Storage and backup solutions
  • Networking services
  • Identity and access management platforms
• Monitor infrastructure performance, availability, and capacity to ensure systems remain secure, reliable, and fit for purpose.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex infrastructure incidents and technical issues.
• Develop and maintain automation solutions using scripting and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) methodologies.
• Implement system upgrades, patches, security remediation activities, and configuration changes.
• Contribute to technical documentation, operational procedures, standards, and infrastructure designs.
• Support infrastructure projects, technology refresh programs, and continuous service improvement initiatives.
• Collaborate with cloud, cybersecurity, networking, and application teams to deliver integrated technology solutions.
• Participate in Incident, Problem, and Change Management processes.
• Contribute to on-call support arrangements for critical infrastructure services when required.

Essential Skills & Experience

• Demonstrated experience administering and supporting enterprise infrastructure services across on-premises and hybrid environments.
• Strong experience with server administration, virtualisation, storage, backup, networking, and identity management technologies.
• Proven experience deploying, maintaining, patching, and troubleshooting infrastructure services within large-scale ICT environments.
• Sound understanding of infrastructure security, vulnerability management, risk management, and compliance requirements.
• Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Experience working within Incident, Problem, and Change Management frameworks.
• Ability to produce high-quality technical and operational documentation.
• Must be based in or willing to work from Canberra.

Desirable Experience

• Microsoft Azure and hybrid cloud environments.
• Infrastructure automation and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) technologies.
• Cloud telephony, unified communications, or collaboration platforms.
• Enterprise management and vulnerability management tools such as MECM, Microsoft Defender for Endpoint, Ivanti, or similar technologies.
• Microsoft Active Directory, Entra ID, Exchange, and identity management services.
• Knowledge of Australian Government cybersecurity frameworks, including ISM, PSPF, and Essential Eight.
• ITIL, TOGAF, or other relevant industry certifications.

Security Clearance

To be eligible for this role, candidates must hold a current Negative Vetting Level 1 (NV1) Security Clearance.
